Privacy Policy

Introduction

Batter's Eye Q is a baseball development app that helps players record plate appearances, pitch sequences, hitting outcomes, approach notes, and related baseball information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how sharing works, and what happens when you delete your account.

Batter's Eye Q is operated by Travis McNaughton and Jesse McLean in Alberta, Canada. You can contact us at support@batterseyeq.com.

1. Information we collect

Batter's Eye Q collects information that is needed to provide the app's core features.

Account information

When you create or sign in to an account, we may collect or receive:

• your name or display name;
• your email address;
• your Firebase Authentication user ID;
• sign-in provider information, such as Google, Apple, or email/password authentication; and
• authentication/session information managed by Firebase Authentication.

We use this information to create your account, keep you signed in, secure your account, sync your data, and connect sharing access to the correct email address.

Player and profile information

You may enter profile information such as:

• player name;
• batting side;
• jersey number;
• position;
• team names;
• season year;
• level;
• league;
• preferences;
• device calibration settings;
• onboarding/tutorial status; and
• optional profile photo.

Profile photos, if uploaded, may be resized or compressed before being stored with your profile information.

Baseball journal data

Batter's Eye Q stores the baseball information you enter into the app, including:

• game date, opponent, game type, home/away status, inning, score, and game status;
• plate appearance details, including pitcher name, pitcher hand, inning, outs, runners, score, pinch-hit status, pre-at-bat plan, outcome, quality rating, RBI, and whether the player scored;
• pitch details, including pitch type, decision, result, contact quality, batted-ball type, spray/contact location, pitch location, and plate appearance outcome;
• reflection notes and other free-text journal entries; and
• analytics and summaries calculated from the data you enter.

Some fields are free text. This means you control what you type into them. Free-text fields may include personal information if you choose to enter it, such as names of pitchers, teams, opponents, coaches, or other people. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your own baseball journal use and you have permission to enter it.

Team sharing information

If you use sharing features, Batter's Eye Q may store email addresses that you enter for coaches, parents, viewers, or other people you choose to share with. These email addresses are used to create read-only access for the person you choose, if sharing is enabled.

Support information

If you contact support or submit a support request, we may collect:

• your email address;
• the category of your request;
• the message you submit;
• technical context such as your browser, user agent, app URL, and support request ID; and
• email delivery or support-related event information.

Support information is used to respond to you, troubleshoot issues, investigate security or abuse concerns, and maintain operational records.

Subscription information

If you subscribe to Batter's Eye Q Pro through the App Store, Batter's Eye Q and its subscription management provider may receive and process:

• your App Store purchase receipt and subscription status;
• subscription entitlement information such as active, expired, cancelled, or trial status;
• a RevenueCat customer identifier associated with your account; and
• device and platform information used to validate and restore purchases.

This information is used only to verify and grant your Pro subscription entitlement, restore purchases, and manage subscription status.

2. How we use information

We use information collected through Batter's Eye Q to:

• create and manage user accounts;
• authenticate users and protect account access;
• save, load, sync, and display baseball journal data;
• generate stats, charts, trends, and other app-based summaries;
• show your profile, teams, preferences, and calibration settings;
• provide read-only sharing when you enable sharing by email;
• send and process transactional emails, such as sharing invitations or support-related messages;
• respond to support requests;
• troubleshoot bugs and technical issues;
• maintain app security and prevent misuse;
• complete account deletion requests; and
• operate, maintain, and improve Batter's Eye Q.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use behavioural advertising or advertising tracking in Batter's Eye Q. We do not use your baseball journal data for advertising.

3. Where information is stored and processed

Batter's Eye Q uses Firebase and Google Cloud services, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Hosting, and related Firebase infrastructure. Your app data is stored and processed using Google's cloud infrastructure.

Batter's Eye Q may also use Brevo or another transactional email service provider to send and process support emails, sharing invitations, and related delivery events. These providers process information on our behalf for operational and transactional purposes. They are not used by Batter's Eye Q for behavioural advertising or ad tracking.

Batter's Eye Q uses RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements and process App Store purchase receipts. RevenueCat processes subscription and purchase data on our behalf for entitlement purposes and is not used for advertising.

Because Batter's Eye Q uses cloud providers, your information may be stored or processed outside your province, state, or country, including outside Canada. Where this occurs, your information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed.

4. Internet connection and device storage

Batter's Eye Q requires an active internet connection to load, create, update, share, or delete baseball journal data. The app does not currently provide a full offline mode.

Your data syncs across devices when you sign in with the same account.

Batter's Eye Q does not intentionally store your baseball journal data in browser local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, or other persistent on-device storage controlled by the app. Firebase Authentication may store sign-in/session information on your device as part of normal authentication functionality.

In limited cases, the app may use temporary browser session storage to complete a sign-in or account deletion flow, such as returning from an Apple authentication redirect. This temporary information is intended to expire or be cleared after the flow is complete.

5. Sharing by email

Batter's Eye Q includes controlled sharing features. If you enable sharing for a team or viewer email address, the person associated with that email address may be able to sign in and view read-only access to shared hitter information.

Shared viewers may be able to see information such as:

• player profile information;
• team context;
• games;
• plate appearances;
• pitch sequences;
• notes and plans;
• stats, charts, and trends generated from shared data; and
• other information connected to the shared hitter journal.

Shared viewers cannot create, edit, or delete your games, plate appearances, pitches, profile, calibration settings, or sharing settings through shared access.

You are responsible for entering the correct email addresses and for sharing only with people you intend to give access to. You can revoke or disable sharing. When sharing is revoked or disabled, the viewer should no longer be able to access the shared hitter data through the app.

If another user independently enters your email address as a sharing contact in their own account, that sharing record belongs to that other user's account and may remain unless that user removes it or we remove it where appropriate.

6. Children and youth users

Batter's Eye Q is an all-ages baseball development tool, but it is not intended for unsupervised use by children under 13.

Users under the age of majority should use Batter's Eye Q only with permission and appropriate supervision from a parent, guardian, coach, club, school representative, or other authorized adult.

Batter's Eye Q does not ask for date of birth and is designed to avoid collecting unnecessary youth information. The app does not intentionally collect home addresses, phone numbers, precise location/GPS data, medical information, public profiles, public leaderboards, or user-to-user direct messaging.

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without appropriate consent, contact us at support@batterseyeq.com and we will review the request and take appropriate steps, including deletion where appropriate.

7. Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide Batter's Eye Q, maintain your account, support sharing, respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and operate the app.

Core app data, such as your profile, games, plate appearances, pitches, calibration records, and sharing records that you created, is designed to be removed when you delete your account through the in-app deletion feature.

Some information may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary, including:

• support requests;
• email delivery records;
• security, abuse-prevention, troubleshooting, or operational records;
• records required for legal or business purposes;
• server logs or backups maintained by Firebase, Google Cloud, Brevo, or other service providers under their own retention practices; and
• records created by another user, such as a sharing record in another user's account that includes your email address as a viewer.

We aim to retain only what is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.

8. Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app from the account deletion screen.

When you delete your account, Batter's Eye Q is designed to remove:

• your Firebase Authentication account;
• your profile;
• your games;
• your plate appearances;
• your pitch data;
• your calibration records; and
• sharing records that you created as the owner.

Account deletion may require recent re-authentication. Depending on your sign-in method, you may be asked to confirm your identity through Google, Apple, or email/password before deletion can proceed.

Account deletion is not guaranteed to be instant, atomic, or complete in every technical circumstance. For example, deletion may be affected by network interruption, authentication errors, cloud provider backups, logs, operational records, email records, support records, or records created by another user. If you believe your deletion request did not complete correctly, contact us at support@batterseyeq.com.

If you have an active Batter's Eye Q Pro subscription through the App Store, deleting your Batter's Eye Q account does not cancel your subscription or stop future billing. You must cancel your subscription separately in the App Store.

9. Your choices

You can:

• update your profile information in the app;
• edit or delete games, plate appearances, pitches, teams, notes, and other app data where the app provides those controls;
• turn sharing on or off;
• remove sharing email addresses;
• contact support at support@batterseyeq.com;
• request help accessing, correcting, or deleting information; and
• delete your account through the in-app account deletion feature.

10. Security

We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore security rules, authenticated sharing controls, and other reasonable technical measures to help protect user information.

No system can guarantee perfect security. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for sharing your data only with people you trust.

11. Third-party services

Batter's Eye Q may use third-party service providers to operate the app, including:

• Google/Firebase for authentication, database, hosting, and related cloud infrastructure;
• Apple and Google sign-in services, depending on the sign-in method you choose;
• RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management and App Store purchase validation; and
• Brevo or another transactional email provider for support, sharing invitations, and email delivery events.

These providers may process information under their own privacy policies and terms. We use these services to operate Batter's Eye Q and not for behavioural advertising.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice in the app or by other reasonable means.
